The story of Fate/Apocrypha takes place in an alternate world of Fate/stay night, where the Holy Grail has been missing for several years after the Third Grail War. The story begins in the Great Holy Grail War in the city of Trifas, where two factions clash: the Black faction, mainly made up of members of the Yggdramillennia group, and the Red faction, made up of members of the Association of Mages, except those of the church. The Holy Grail itself will act as the mediator of this Great War.
