The story centers on Seri Koyuki, an ordinary high school student who goes out of his way to avoid strange people. Unfortunately, he becomes, in spite of himself, friends with the eccentric Kabuto Hanadori. This person, suffering from chūnibyō syndrome, thinks he is a knight and that his eye patch is used to seal his dark alter-ego: Michael Offenbarung Dunkelheit, a god of destruction.
Thus begins Seri's busy high school life, surrounded by people each more crazy than the next.
